Therapy-How I work

I take a very individual approach to your concerns and therapeutic goals. Every client is unique; YOU are unique. But a common experience felt by many is that of not being seen or heard. Therapy is a space that allows you to be seen and heard without judgement. It allows us to explore what happened to you.

I can provide you with a safe and confidential space to explore, untangle and understand your feelings, to facilitate healing and growth and emotional wellbeing. My training enables me to integrate different approaches that help me help you to look at the here and now, what came before, and how to move forward.

People describe me as a warm, empathic person, easy to talk to and someone with whom you can build a safe and trusting working relationship. If you choose to work with me, I will put you at the centre, gently challenge you when appropriate, but support you every step of the way

Individual support for mental challenges

My approach at a glance

I help you to cope with stressful situations, strengthen your resources and regain your emotional well-being. Below you will find an overview of my approach. Together we will find the path that suits you.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

“Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength.” (Freud)

Psychodynamic therapy helps you get to the root of your problems. We explore what happened to you, your experiences as a young child and into adulthood and look at how these past experiences shape our current thinking and behaviour, improving self-awareness and emotional regulation. We look at how what happened to us when we were very young and how our developmental relationships provided us with an emotional and behavioural blueprint that we take into our current relationships. We can learn more about our feelings, behaviours and actions and how to improve our relationships moving forward.

Person-Centred Therapy

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I change." Carl Rogers, On Becoming a Person: A Therapist's View of Psychotherapy

Person centred counselling puts the focus on each person as a unique individual. It creates a safe space for exploring thoughts and feelings without fear. This approach stresses the importance of acceptance, understanding, and honesty in the relationship. This type of counselling is great for improving emotional health. It lets you share your feelings safely, without fear of being judged. This creates a safe space for you to explore and understand your emotions better. It helps you accept and understand yourself more. This leads to a more positive outlook on life. Additionally, it helps you to grow in self-awareness, fostering better understanding, leading to better relationships and a more fulfilling life

Integrative therapy

As an integrative therapist blending psychodynamic and person-centred approaches, I also bring in other tools and knowledge to my practice when and where it may be helpful, such as Trauma informed practice and imagery work.

Face to face or online therapy

As we are all unique, we may also have a preference for how we access therapy. I can provide face to face therapy in comfortable rooms providing a safe space in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Or if you prefer the convenience of online therapy or live elsewhere in the UK or in Europe, our work can be equally effective in the online space.

Recognize and accept yourself as you are - with all your facets, strengths and challenges.

I would be happy to accompany you in starting and deepening this process. Write to me or give me a call to take the first step.
